On behalf of the parish, I thank Fr. Jeff and Fr. Peter for their service here during the past three years.
They are two good, dedicated and holy priests and they have enriched the parish by their presence and their ministry. Through ordination, they share in the priesthood of Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, and they follow his example of leadership and service. They have shown their dedication to the Lord and to you, the people of God, by celebrating the Eucharist and the Sacraments of the Church, by preaching the gospel day in and day out and by being there for you in the happy events of life and also in the sad and trying events.
They have preached the Gospel of Joy that Pope Francis proclaims and have done so with smiles and humor. They have taught the teaching of the church in all areas and, especially, by sharing the wisdom of the Second Vatican Council they have called many of you to exercise your baptismal ministry in service to the parish and the larger community. They have planted many seeds that will grow and produce fruit in the future. They have moved God’s work forward towards the realization of his Kingdom of peace, justice, reconciliation and love.
We are grateful to them and wish that God will prosper the work of their hands in their new parishes.
As you leave here...
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the rain fall gently on your fields,
The sun shine warmly on your face
And, until we meet again,
May the Lord hold you in the hollow of his hand.
