A Message from Kevin Bernaga

Youth and Young Adult Ministry

As Fall approaches and the school year begins, I cannot help but reflect on how eventful our Youth Ministry has been this past Summer.

Beginning mid-June, a group of our youth joined the 250+ others from all over the Diocese of San Jose for the annual Diocesan Youth Retreat. The retreat was 5 beautiful days in South Lake Tahoe where we were able to grow in faith and community with peers from other parishes.

The week after the retreat, our parish’s Vacation Bible School Program kicked off and continued for two weeks. This year’s theme was “Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus”. This year, we had a record-breaking total of 110 registered participants, surpassing last year’s record of 105. We hope to continue to grow the program and minister to even more children next year!

One week later, our four week Summer Youth Program began. Every Tuesday and Thursday, our 35 registered youth would join us in events such as an escape room, bowling, or Great America. The program ended with our highly popular annual Halloween Lock-in.

The last event of the Summer was the Middle School Diocesan Youth Retreat. This was a historic moment for our Diocese’s Office of Youth and Young Adults because it was the very first one. The high school version of the retreat has been ongoing for 23 years! We are very honored to have participated in the first one, and we pray that it continues to grow and serve the middle school in our Diocese for many years to come. Our youth ministry is now back in its normal ministry year. For more information or to register for our Jr. high or high school programs, please do not hesitate to ask! In the meantime, thank you all for your continued support of our youth, and please pray for our ministry!
