In 2012, I was sent to Mundelein under the sponsorship of Maryknoll and did my 6-year seminary formation there. After careful discernment and prayer, I decided to join the Diocese of San Jose. I am been so blessed to be a member of this great diocese.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, traveling to different places, and being outside playing basketball and ultimate frisbee.

Ricky Ferrer (Pastoral Year)

Ricardo S. Ferrer Jr. was born on July 6, 1989 in the island of Cebu, a province of the Philippines, to Mr. Ricardo I Ferrer Sr. and Mrs. Fe S. Ferrer. He is the youngest of four, with two brothers and a sister. Although his family and relatives calls him “King King,” he is commonly known as Ricky to most. Growing up with a heart that desired to serve others, he served at a young age and was appointed youth minister at the early age of 16 in the Philippines. After working a while in the corporate world, he was humbled and honored to serve as the Safe Environment coordinator for the Diocese of San Jose for 2 years, while also working as a full-time volunteer youth minister at his home parish Saint Maria Goretti. Currently, he serves as the facilities manager there and taking on several volunteer roles such as being the Festival Chair for last year and this year’s parish festival. Although he keeps himself busy through church activities and responsibilities, he loves to cook, bake and spend quality time with his family and friends. Some may call it a coincidence, but being that he was born on her Feast Day, he truly believed that he was led to serve at Saint Maria Goretti to fully discern and answer his calling.

Home Parish: St. Maria Goretti
